School portraits guide

meet BROOKE.

Hi, I'm Brooke! I serve busy, sentimental moms who want to cherish the early years with their children.

As a motherhood photographer, I strive to make the portrait process effortless for you, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable experience from start to finish. I’ve crafted one of the most elevated photography experiences in Minnesota for newborns, babies, and families focusing on creating timeless, light-filled portraits that feel natural and beautiful. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of working with countless mothers, soothing babies, and playing with toddlers—all to capture the magic of growing families. Whether your child is super comfortable in front of the camera or a bit more reserved, I will guide your child through and let their personality shine through for their school portrait.

Siblings

ABOUT OUR SESSIONS

2-4 weeks after school picture day

Have siblings attending the same school? We’ve got you covered! At Brooke Elisabeth Photography, we love capturing the sweet bond between siblings. If both of your children attend the same school, we’re happy to include sibling portraits at no extra cost. It’s a special opportunity to freeze this fleeting season of life and document their connection as they grow. So if you’ve got a set of siblings, let’s get them together in front of the camera—you’ll treasure these moments for years to come.

What sets our school portraits apart is our commitment to a natural, timeless style. You won’t find cheesy props or busy, outdated backgrounds here—instead, I use a clean, neutral backdrop that lets your child’s personality shine. My approach is simple, authentic, and classic, creating portraits that truly reflect who your child is in this moment. These images are meant to be cherished for years to come, allowing you to look back and watch how your child has grown through their early school years with beautiful, cohesive year-book styled portraits.

Commonly-Asked Questions

How much time do you need per student?

Each child only needs a few short minutes. My process is quick and efficient while still allowing time to connect and capture natural expressions.

Where should we hold school portraits?

A quiet indoor space with good natural light (like a library, empty classroom, or multipurpose room) works best. I bring all the necessary equipment including a backdrop and lighting, if needed.

How disruptive will this be to the school day?

Not disruptive at all! We work with staff ahead of time to create a schedule that flows with classroom routines, ensuring minimal disruption to learning.

What’s required from the school ahead of time?

I’ll need a signed contract (usually from an administrator or president of the PTO, a list of participating students, a designated space for photos, and a simple schedule. I handle the rest—including communication and ordering!

What should my child wear?

Solid colors and simple patterns photograph best against our clean, neutral backdrop. Avoid shirts with large logos or characters to keep the focus on your child.
