Today in the favorite portrait location series I am showcasing Como Park in St. Paul, MN. I know I say this every time ( I mean it is a blog series on my favorite locations) but this one is one of my all-time top-of-the-list favorite locations. A lot of times people are shocked to hear that a park known for housing zoo animals is my favorite location, but I promise you there a lot here!
#1: Structures!
Como Park has a lot of beautiful structures allowing for great variety in your pictures! From white pillars, to the European-inspired buildings this location has so much to choose from. These structures make for great backgrouns or props for your session. The breathtaking glass of the convervatoy paired with the glowy golden hour makes for some gorgeous portraits.
#2: Beautiful grounds!
Another reason why it is my favorite is the grounds! This is a perfect location if you would like manicured nature. The grounds are so well kept and the gardens around the areas we shoot are great accent pieces in the background/foreground of an image. There are numerous spots I like to go to throughout this big park that each spot has a theme of its own. In the spring, there are beautiful blossoming trees. During summer, the gardens and greenery are unmatched. In the fall, there are so many autumn colors all around.
#3: Timeless-feel!
Finally, my favorite part about this location. The photos I get from this location always feel and look so timeless. The light-stoned structues mixed with the greenery around the grounds makes this look like something out of a magazine. Another reason I love this location so much is there are areas there that you can’t tell exactly what season it is. This is great if you are not super into the season your portraits take place in.
