This studio newborn session in Minneapolis was filled with so much sweetness – a proud big sister, a brand new baby girl, and a family soaking in those first few weeks together. The soft tones, tender moments, and sweet sibling interactions made this session one of my favorites. But what made it even more special was watching big sister take on her new role – in her own way and on her own time.

If you’ve ever worried about how your toddler might do during a newborn session, you’re not alone. Almost every parent walks into the studio with the same concern – “What if my toddler melts down?” The truth is, toddlers are unpredictable, and that’s perfectly okay. With my child-led approach, we always get the shot.

While mom enjoys hair and makeup (which is included in every signature session), I start by capturing those quiet solo moments of your new baby. This gives your toddler time to arrive later, rested and ready. When it’s time for family photos, we follow their lead.

My workflow is designed around real family dynamics. We focus on sibling and family photos first to keep things quick and natural, capturing connection over perfection. The result is always a beautiful mix of tender, candid, and timeless portraits that tell your family’s story exactly as it is – full of love, personality, and heart.
