Some sessions feel extra special because of the story behind them, and this one is truly unforgettable. This sweet family invited me back to their family farm to celebrate their second child turning one. This property that has been passed down for generations! The year before, I photographed them at this same spot when they were a family of three. Now, with two little ones, it was only fitting to recreate those portraits in the very same place.

As a Minneapolis first year milestone photographer, I know how meaningful it is to capture these moments on land that carries so much history. A family farm is more than just a backdrop, it is a place filled with memories, stories, and connection. This session was especially dear to me because this mom is also a photographer here in Minnesota. It is always such an honor when another photographer chooses me to capture their family’s milestones. Trust like that is never taken lightly, and I am grateful to have been a part of preserving these chapters for her family.

The highlight of this milestone session was recreating one of my favorite images from their previous session. We stood in the very same spot by the water and captured a nearly identical portrait, only this time with two children in their arms instead of one. The love, the joy, and the sense of family were all still there, only multiplied.

First year sessions are always a reminder of how quickly time passes. One moment you are holding a newborn, and the next they are toddling around with their own little personality.
